Brightwater Wins Two in Prestigious National Gold Nugget Awards

The Brightwater team is excited to announce that two of its home designs were recognized with Grand Awards at this year’s prestigious Gold Nugget Awards. The Grand Award winners were the designer model home at Sweet Apple in Milton, GA and a custom home design at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC. A Grand Award is the top honor bestowed by the annual competition which is marking its 6oth year dedicated to recognizing those who improve communities through exceptional concepts in design, planning and development. “Our Brightwater team is so excited and honored to receive these awards,” said Tara Brown, Brightwater’s Vice President of Strategic Development. “Both of these winning home designs are really special to us as they represent milestones on our journey to design and build more sustainable new homes that also live beautifully. It’s a shared passion for our team, so to have the dedication and work that has gone into that effort recognized in these designs is especially exciting.”

Brightwater’s designer-curated model home at the idyllic Sweet Apple community in Milton, GA received the Grand Award for Best Single Family Detached Home (3500 to 3999 Square Feet). The home’s bold exterior is clad in fresh farmhouse white siding with a striking accent of vertical siding in a rich wood tone framing the front entrance and large windows above and a cozy corner porch in contrasting black. Inside, the 3700+ square foot design features a first-floor owner’s suite and three additional bedrooms with four and a half baths as well as gracious living areas thoughtfully designed to create an easy, inviting flow that organically connects indoors and out. The main living area leads to focal multi-slider  glass panel doors which open to the outdoor dining area and bathe the space in abundant natural light. The showstopper kitchen combines a sleek white waterfall island and white cabinetry with a sharp black vent hood and hexagonal tile backsplash in a dappling of white, gray and gold veining all the way to the ceiling – all set off by an adjoining breakfast room with walls in deep charcoal trimmed in white. Other don’t-miss features include a dedicated tile dog wash in the mudroom and an enticing outdoor dining area and firepit, perfect for unwinding or entertaining. Like all new homes at Sweet Apple, which is one of the first new residential neighborhoods in Georgia to offer solar standard, the home also features a solar panel array which both offsets energy costs and acts as a backup power source.

Another distinctive Brightwater design located in the iconic waterfront getaway Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC was named the Grand Award winner for Best Custom Home (Under 5000 Square Feet). Nestled marshside in the South Carolina Lowcountry, this thoughtful new home is a celebration of the natural splendor that surrounds it. Uniquely designed for a homeowner with a passion for birdwatching, the home masterfully blends indoors and out with an authentic respect for its environment. The plan was carefully sited and kept to less than 2,700 square feet in order to avoid tree clearing and maintain the natural habitat. An exterior in natural wood and gray tones blends organically with its surroundings while its defining feature is a long, deep porch facing the undisturbed natural area and marsh – a perfect atmosphere to attract and observe birds. Inside, the natural glories of the Lowcountry still take center stage. The home design itself is long and narrow, creating the opportunity for more and larger windows that bring natural light and stunning views into the living space. Touches of nature are at every turn from a stunning oyster shell fireplace to natural wood elements and are expertly combined with sleek, modern features to create a truly luxurious and one-of-a-kind coastal escape. On top of it all, the home was Brightwater’s first Net Zero Energy home to be completed – meaning that the home is so efficient that it produces at least as much energy as it consumes over the course of a year, leaving the homeowner with a net zero energy bill.
